Chromium

Chromium is a trace element needed for sugar metabolism in our body. It is essential for helping cells respond correctly to insulin, and for processing fats and carbohydrates. Chromium activates a number of enzymes needed for multiple chemical reactions in the body.

Insufficient dietary intake of chromium can result in chromium deficiency disorder. The symptoms of chromium deficiency include fatigue, raised blood pressure, increased blood cholesterol, atherosclerosis, low glucose tolerance, and anxiety.

Food sources of chromium include brewer’s yeast, meats, poultry, eggs, oysters, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and vegetable oils.
