The first step in treating psoriasis is to remove
or lift any scales or psoriatic plaques. Skin-Plaque

acid. The US Food and Drug Administration has approved
salicylic acid as an over-the-counter treatment
for psoriasis. Technically, salicylic acid is classified
as a keratolytic, or peeling agent, and
it works by causing shedding of the outer layer
of skin. Shedding the dead skin cells opens the
pores and causes the symptoms of psoriasis and seborrheic
dermatitis to lessen and often disappear. Removing
scales is important, because it allows topical medications
to reach and penetrate the skin.

- Apply a thin coating of Exfoliating Gel to affected
areas before bed. Dress in comfortable clothing

- Take a warm bath or shower the following morning,

soap and water.
