Garlic has shown to be effective in the treatment of lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic poisoning. Some sulfurous compounds can bind and remove heavy metals and other poisons such as food dyes, preservatives and sugar substitutes from the body. Garlic is also the richest natural source of the trace element selenium, which has the ability to counteract poisoning by heavy metals.

Garlic raises the the body's resistance and immunity to various colds and infectious diseases, improves digestion, regulates heart activities, expands blood vessels, and has pain relieving properties. It assists in the increase of the gastric juices and aids with proper digestion.
