ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

Individual results may vary.

Same sulfur. Better smell. The acne soap you'll actually look forward to using.

If you've tried sulfur soap before and couldn't get past the odor, this bar was made for you. DermaHarmony 10% Sulfur with Tea Tree Oil Bar Soap pairs the full acne-fighting strength of 10% sulfur with Australian tea tree oil — a naturally derived essential oil that gives the bar a clean, herbal scent in place of the raw sulfur smell.

The acne treatment is the same: 10% sulfur, the maximum concentration permitted under the FDA OTC acne drug monograph. Sulfur is generally recognized as safe and effective (GRASE) for the treatment of acne. This bar dries and clears acne blemishes, acne pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads — and with regular use, it helps prevent new ones from forming.

The difference is the experience. Australian tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) oil — one of the most popular essential oils in personal care — gives this bar a fresh, camphoraceous aroma and contributes skin-conditioning properties. No synthetic fragrances, no perfumes. Just an essential oil with centuries of use in traditional Australian skincare.

Why Sulfur?

Sulfur is one of the oldest acne remedies known — ancient Egyptians used it, and it remains a staple in dermatology today. The reason is straightforward: it dries out excess oil, helps clear clogged pores, and reduces the severity of blemishes without the harshness that comes with many modern acne treatments.

What makes sulfur particularly useful is its range. It helps clear up whiteheads and blackheads (the non-inflammatory kind caused by oil and dead skin buildup) as well as acne pimples and surface blemishes. For people who have tried stronger ingredients and found them too aggressive, sulfur is often the ingredient that finally works with their skin instead of against it.

At 10%, this bar delivers the highest sulfur concentration available over the counter — so you're getting the full benefit without a prescription.

What Makes This Bar Different

  • Full-strength acne treatment, naturally scented. 10% sulfur for maximum OTC acne-fighting power, plus Australian tea tree oil for a clean, herbal aroma. You get serious treatment in a bar that smells like something you'd actually want to use.
  • The sulfur soap for people who hate the sulfur smell. Tea tree oil's fresh, camphoraceous scent takes the edge off the natural sulfur odor. Most customers say this bar is significantly more pleasant than unscented sulfur soaps.
  • Short ingredient list, no compromises. No parabens, no synthetic fragrances, no dyes, no sulfates. Every ingredient is there for a reason.
  • Noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic. Won't clog your pores. Won't provoke irritation. Customers with sensitive skin consistently choose this bar because it works without stinging or stripping.
  • Face, body, and everywhere in between. Acne on your back, chest, or shoulders? This bar handles it all — use it anywhere you have blemishes.
  • One bar goes a long way. Most customers get four to six weeks from a single 4 oz bar with daily facial use. That's serious value compared to prescription washes or multi-step acne systems.
  • The whole family can use it. Safe for daily use by both adults and children.
  • Manufactured in the USA. Domestically produced and individually packaged.

Who It's For

You'll get the most out of this bar if you:

  • Want a sulfur acne soap that doesn't smell like sulfur — the tea tree oil makes a noticeable difference
  • Have pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, or blemishes on your face, back, chest, or body and want a single soap that addresses all of them
  • Need the strongest OTC sulfur concentration available (10%) without a prescription
  • Have tried benzoyl peroxide and found it too drying, too irritating, or tired of it bleaching your towels
  • Want a paraben-free, sulfate-free acne soap you feel good about using every day
  • Prefer to keep your skincare routine simple — one bar, lather, rinse, moisturize, done
  • Are looking for an OTC acne medication that works for sensitive skin without extra stinging or redness
  • Like the idea of tea tree oil in your skincare but want it paired with a proven OTC acne active

Wondering if sulfur is the right fit? Here's how it stacks up.

Sulfur vs. Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide targets the bacteria associated with inflammatory acne and is widely available in OTC products. The trade-off: it often causes noticeable dryness, peeling, and redness — and it will bleach your towels, pillowcases, and clothing on contact. Sulfur works differently. It dries and clears blemishes through pore-level action, and many people with sensitive or reactive skin find it far easier to tolerate day after day. No bleaching risk, either.

Sulfur vs. Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is a go-to for unclogging pores, especially for blackheads and whiteheads. Sulfur overlaps with some of these benefits — it also helps clear pores — but adds an oil-drying action that salicylic acid doesn't provide. If you want both, DermaHarmony offers several Sulfur & Salicylic Acid Bar Soaps that combines the two.

No single ingredient is perfect for every skin type. If harsher acne treatments have left your skin red, flaky, or irritated, sulfur is worth a try — it's the gentler path to clearer skin.

A Note on the Scent

Let's be honest: the smell is the main reason people hesitate to try sulfur soap. That's exactly why we added tea tree oil to this formula. The Australian tea tree oil gives the bar a fresh, herbal, slightly camphoraceous aroma that significantly tones down the natural sulfur scent. It won't smell like a spa — but it won't clear the room, either. Customers who have used both our scented and unscented bars overwhelmingly prefer this one. After rinsing, the scent fades quickly and doesn't follow you through the day.

A Note on Dryness

Every sulfur soap will dry your skin to some degree — that drying action is part of how sulfur clears acne blemishes. Here's how to make it work for you:

Week one: Use the bar once a day (evening is ideal). Follow immediately with a moisturizer.

Week two onward: If your skin is tolerating it well, increase to twice daily if needed.

If you notice flaking or tightness: Scale back to every other day. Your skin will adjust.

The non-negotiable step: Always moisturize after washing. This single habit makes the difference between "too drying" and "just right."  We're not a moisturizer company (we stay in our 'lane') — so use whatever you like so long as it's non comedogenic, oil-free, and lightweight.

DIRECTIONS

Use daily for best results, or as directed by your doctor.

  1. Lather the bar with warm water.
  2. Gently massage the lather onto affected areas.
  3. Allow the lather to sit on skin for at least 30 seconds.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with water.

Use on affected skin in place of your regular soap.

Starting out: Some users notice dryness when first using a sulfur soap. Begin with once-daily use and work up from there. You may increase to two or three times daily as needed, or as directed by a doctor. If dryness or peeling becomes bothersome, reduce to once daily or every other day. Always follow with a moisturizer.

First-time sulfur users: Apply the product to one or two small affected areas during the first 3 days. If no discomfort occurs, follow the full directions above.

WARNINGS

For external use only.

Do not use on:

  • Broken skin
  • Large areas of the skin

When using this product:

  • Apply only to areas with acne.
  • Skin irritation and dryness is more likely to occur if you use another topical acne medication at the same time. If irritation occurs, only use one topical acne medication at a time.

Stop use and ask a doctor if skin irritation occurs or gets worse.

Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. In case of accidental ingestion, contact a physician or Poison Control Center immediately.

Additional note: Sulfur will tarnish (blacken) silver jewelry. Remove silver rings, bracelets, and necklaces before use.

fart face lolol

dermaharmony always has quality made products but Honestly i didn't get to use it long enough to see if it helped. i expected it to smell primarily of tea tree but nope—the sulfur was the main smell and it lingers. face smelled like fart all day lol.

Sensitivity to sulfur is linked to the presence of copper in nasal mucus which amplifies the perceived stench, making it intolerable to some folks. It's a evolutionary aversion tarit - our ancestors developed a strong aversion to sulfurous smells as they signal danger, such as rotten food or toxic environments. For those with a good bit of copper nasal mucus (which is a genetic trait) there's no masking the smell, not even with tea tree oil. Copper amplifies a thiol's (an organic compound containing the group —SH, i.e. a sulfur-containing analog of an alcohol) intensity by up to 1,000 times. It's a huge difference. This soap either smells okay or intolerable. There's no middle ground.
