ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

This is a unscented "everything" bar that can be used on the face, body, and even hair. It is ideal for seborrheic dermatitis—particularly on the face—and dandruff. The bar is an excellent cleanser for any type of skin. The bar works well in both hard and soft-water. It is safe for daily use by adults and children.

This is a non-soap formulation (known in the industry as a syndet or synthetic detergent).  The most prevalent ingredient is Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) - a natural cleanser know as Baby Foam due to its exceptional mildness.  SCI is derived from coconut oil (from coconuts that come from the cocos nucifera tree). The process of making SCI mixes a natural sulfonic acid called isethionic acid with the fatty acids that naturally occur in coconut oil. A sulfonic acid is a member of the class of organosulfur (containing sulfur) compounds. It has a conditioning effect on your skin and hair making it soft, and supple. SCI is a non-toxic, non-allergic and non-irritating surfactant.

The ingredients contained in this bar are highly engineered, but they're still plant-based.  We believe that what you use to clean your body is as important as what goes in it. That’s why our standards go beyond typical “clean beauty” claims.

  • Non-comedogenic: specially formulated so as not to cause blocked pores.
  • pH balanced at 5.1.  A cleanser that is “pH balanced” simply means it has a pH similar to that of skin (4.5-5.5).

This bar has no added scent.  Fragrances (even natural ones) sometimes cause allergic reactions. The bar has a mild odor that is characteristically soapy/detergent-y. It does not linger after use.

USES

For relief of the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. Helps stop scalp flaking, scaling, and itching associated with seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff, and reduces skin redness and irritation associated with seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. Fights recurrence of and helps stop recurrence of skin and scalp flaking, scaling, itching, redness, and irritation associated with seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff.

DIRECTIONS

For best results use daily or as directed by your doctor. Work up a later using warm water and gently massage into affected areas. Leave in contact with skin for at least 30 seconds. Rinse well. Use on the affected skin in place of your regular soap. In case of accidental ingestion, contact a physician or poison control center immediately. Because some customers experience a drying of their skin when using this cleanser, start with one application and then gradually work-up to daily application. You may increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by a doctor. If bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day. You may follow cleansing with the natural moisturizer of your choosing.

WARNINGS

Some people are sensitive or allergic to zinc pyrithione. A mild tingling or burning sensation is not uncommon at first use and usually subsides with continued use. If you experience a severe burning sensation you should discontinue use.

For external use only. Ask a doctor before use if you have a condition that covers a large area of the body. When using this product avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water. Stop use and ask a doctor if condition worsens or does not improve after regular use as directed. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Love this product!

I recently had a dermatitis reaction to a zinc dandruff shampoo brand I’ve used for many years. So instead of the liquid I began to use their zinc bar without issue, but they discontinued it. I was overjoyed to find Dermaharmony. Pretty much the same ingredients so I could trust it. It’s a great product and there is no plastic to dispose of. And I love that they are a small biz in New England. Coming from someone that gets every kind of dermatitis possible, I highly recommend this product.

A solid (haha) product

A solid (haha) product. I've been experience scalp sensitivity and itchiness for a while (eczema/dermatitis) and this soap does not exacerbate it. It feels gentle and non-drying.

Non soap soap

This is the only “soap” my husband uses for his face. A different brand, but same ingredients, was given to him to use for his dermatitis and it really helped. That brand has apparently ceased production but I was fortunate to find this to replace it. Tried one other brand, which he did not like. A bit pricey, but if it works and he is satisfied then I am happy that this is available and will continue to purchase.

There’s no negatives with this product. There’s no lingering scent, the Zinc Pyrithione prevents any seborheic dermatitis breakouts, it’s mild and doesn’t dry out my skin, etc. It’s also PH balanced.
